The Previous Church Has Fallen Isaiah 24:13

For so shall it be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking and beating of an olive tree, or as the gleaning when the vintage is done” [and only a small amount of the fruit remains]. (Isaiah 24:13 AMP)

Abstract:  The purpose of this article is to illustrate from Isaiah 24:13 that at the end of the previous church, there is a loss of heavenly love found in the Christian Church. We will use a paragraph from a Bible Commentary by Rev. J.H. Smithson called “The Prophet Isaiah” (1860)

Jesus Christ has found the “fruit” in this church as having such little value that He will remove the “olive tree” (Love to the Lord and Love to the neighbor) and the “grapevine” (the Truth and light spreading forth from the Lord in heaven).

the shaking and beating of an olive tree” shows a worker trying to harvest some olives in the orchard. But the tree is nearly barren of any fruit. “the gleaning when the vintage is done” shows there are rejected grapes that never reached maturity, rotted, or became ripe enough for the worker to bring into the harvest. That worker is the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Amplified Bible version says “and only a small amount of the fruit remains” This “small amount of fruit” is what the Lord will use to build His new church. Or as this blog is named, the New Emerging Church on the earth.

I have added my emphasis in italic parentheses to include a simple English text for the beginner of the spiritual meaning of the Bible for people such as myself.

From “The Prophet Isaiah” Verse 24:13 (1860) The spiritual meaning of the Scripture;

For thus shall it be in the inmost of the land, in the midst of the peoples,” These things are said concerning the (Christian) church devastated (destroyed, finished, ruined) as to Good and as to Truth, and in which there is nothing but the evil and the false (peoples hearts have turned cold and corrupted). “In the inmost of the land,” denotes (means) evil being through the whole of the church (like the orchards and vineyards); and “in the midst of the peoples,” denotes the false (things that are just not true) being through the “whole thereof“. Therefore the church is compared with “the shaking of the olive-tree.” and with “the gleanings that are left when the vintage is finished;” the “olive tree” signifying (meaning) the Good of the church (Love to the Lord and Love to the neighbor), the “vintage” the Truth thereof (the Truth and light spreading forth from the Lord in heaven); and the “shakings” and “gleanings” thereof signify devastation (destroyed, finished, ruined).

For this devastation precipitates (an event that happens suddenly which is) the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. For He will join His church in heaven to His church on earth. This was foretold by the Apostle John in the Bible book of Revelation,

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. And the sea no longer is. And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her Husband” (Revelation 21:1-2)
