What Does The Jubilee Symbolize to the New Emerging Church?

Abstract: Continuing the discussion from the blog post What is “Covenant Rest”? It is God’s Rest and It is Christ our Jubilee 05/19/2017, and using a text from “Secrets of Heaven” by Emanuel Swedenborg we will attempt to see a clearer meaning of “the Second Coming of Jesus Christ” for the New Emerging Church on the earth. “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. And the sea no longer is. And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her Husband” (Revelation 21:1-2)

“A “jubilee” is a celebration of the life and reign of a monarch. Rather than happening every year, Jubilees only mark significant milestones, making them more special. Many occasions mark out significant moments in the reign of a monarch. These include celebrations that are special to most people, such as wedding anniversaries or birthdays, but they also include anniversaries that are unique to the monarch. Significant dates include the anniversary of the accession (the day they became king or queen); the coronation (the day they were crowned king or queen)” (taken from “Royal Collection Trust – United Kingdom” website).

Jesus was recorded in the Holy Bible as having an Accession (Acts 1:6-11). But not a formal Coronation as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Philippians 2:10-11). This is the high point of “the Second Coming” for the new emerging church, or a celebration in heaven marking the joining together of the Lord’s kingdom in heaven and of His kingdom on the earth.

From “Secrets of Heaven” Bible Commentary on Genesis and Exodus (section number 8802) by Emanuel Swedenborg

No hands shall touch him, but he shall be stoned to death, or he shall be shot through with arrows: whether it be beast, or man, he shall not live. When the trumpet shall begin to sound, then let them go up into the mount” (Exodus 19:13)

When there is a long sounding with the jobel” means those who have a general perception (ability to see spiritually) of celestial good (the love of God and love of neighbor). This is clear from the meaning of “when there is a long sounding with the jobel”, or what amounts to the same thing, “when the sound of the trumpet is heard”, as a general perception of celestial good; for “being heard” means perception (ability to see spiritually), and “the jobel” or “the sound of the trumpet” means celestial good (the love of God and love of neighbor). The reason why “the sound of the trumpet” or “the jobel” means celestial good is that by virtue (what comes forth) of the sounds they make musical instruments correspond (even sounds from musical instruments have a spiritual meaning) to affections (someone may like stringed instruments like a guitar or a piano) for truth (the love of the Bible or Wisdom) or affections (someone may like wind instruments like a flute or a trumpet) for good (the love of God and love of neighbor), stringed instruments corresponding to affections for (love oftruth, and wind to affections for (love ofgood. Being a wind instrument, a loud sounding one, the trumpet (or “the jobel” the “sound of a trumpet”) corresponded (the sound as heard in heaven) to an affection (love of) for celestial good (the joy found in love to God and love to the neighbor), which also was why a “jubilee”, which represented (was seen to mean) the marriage (joining together) of goodness (LOVE) and truth (WISDOM) in the inmost heaven (the third and highest spiritual heaven where the angels dwell that have love to the Lord as the highest principle of spiritual life), took its name from it (so in summary “jubilee” means the marriage or the joining together of goodness and truth). So it is that “a long sounding with the jobel” means those who have a general perception (somewhat of an idea) of celestial good (like the angels in the third heaven it will be given to the faithful on the earth the ability to see what the angels there or in the inmost heaven experience).

It then can be seen that this refers to the reign and coronation of the Lord Jesus Christ on the earth which the old Christian church had taken from Him. This is the spiritual meaning of “No hands shall touch him, but he shall be stoned to death, or he shall be shot through with arrows: whether it be beast, or man, he shall not live” Those are they who refuse to repent and change will be let go.

But the spiritual meaning of “When the trumpet shall begin to sound, then let them go up into the mount”. It then can be seen that this refers to the reign and coronation of the Lord Jesus Christ on the earth, and those who have a general perception (somewhat of an idea) of celestial good will be invited to the ceremony and the celebration. This is the meaning of “Jubilee” for the new church who love the goodness and truth found within the Lord Jesus Christ, they will rejoice and be happy. This is the true meaning of the concept of “the Second Coming of Jesus Christ”. (which is “Christ our Jubilee”)

And this is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5)
