Genesis Chapter 34 The Hardness of Religious Leaders

11.11.2021

Abstract: The historical story found in Chapter 34 of Genesis is the rape of Dinah and the outrage and revenge of her brothers. Hidden within this story is the spiritual meaning that will be discovered by the New Emerging Church.

**********

Chapter 34 of Genesis the message found there internally (the spiritual meaning, not the historical or natural meaning) is the religiosity (a single pattern of behavior and theology) of a hard and cold church. This is so because faith found there is based on “book knowledge”, and this is based on what they consider to be cold hard facts. These “facts” are passed down from religious leaders to religious leaders until they are formed in concrete in their minds. They are considered indisputable facts. And when these concepts of religion are confirmed they cannot be challenged.

In other words, what men consider to be truth, then they love that truth and in the secret part of their heart worship it. And by doing so they worship themselves.

Such a mind will not bend to LOVE. Because they have separated LOVE from TRUTH.

Such a religious mind is coldly intellectual (trusting in the wisdom of their own knowledge), hard (lacking compassion or love), unyielding (will not listen), and stubbornly contentious (refusing to believe anything but what is taught in their religious institutions).

These precious religious concepts that are developed and cherished by religious leaders are called “Dinah“. And when anyone dares insinuate there may be some errors in their doctrine, they fly into a rage (pictured by Dinah’s brothers).

These religious leaders are lacking in mercy and that is the overriding characteristic of Jesus Christ. And He expects His followers to exhibit the same characteristics as He exhibited in His life. And when the religious leaders exhibit any of these bad characteristics it is especially grievous (requiring sober consideration) behavior.

Jesus has called us by his own proper Glory and Truth and not by that of men. We are called to,

according as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue, through which He has given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, so that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also in this very thing, bringing in all diligence, filling out your faith with virtue, and with virtue, knowledge; and with knowledge self-control, and with self-control, patience, and with patience, godliness, and with godliness, brotherly kindness, and with brotherly kindness, love. For if these things are in you and abound, they make you to be neither idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:3-8)

The army of the New Emerging Church will carry the banner and truth of their Lord. They will serve Him diligently and faithfully. There is no room for religiosity in the world to come.
