Abstract:  We will attempt to explain the spiritual importance of comprehending and understanding Scripture from its spiritual meaning.

The academic purpose of this paper is to expose and explain the importance of the spiritual meaning of the Bible (“WORD”).  This is essentially the understanding of the Bible (“WORD”) that exists in a plane that exists above the literal and historical meaning that we have in this world.  In other words how it is read and understood by the residents of heaven.  We will attempt to examine the concepts and importance of reading and understanding the Bible from a spiritual sense.  This will be a key component of the New Emerging Church on the earth.

Key to Text

Bold highlighting = important terms and concepts. Blue Bold highlighting = Words, terms and concepts containing primarily a spiritual sense. Red Bold highlighting = Words, terms, and concepts containing a sense directly related to The Lord Himself. Gray Bold highlighting = Words, terms, and concepts relating to Evil and Hell.

**********

For it is an indisputable fact that the mythical “Body of Christ” is a church body that exists not only in this world and on this earth but also in the realm of God’s heaven also.

For this reason, God gave us His Inspired WORD, the Bible

Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work”  (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

For this reason, Creator God so graciously created in His LOVE and WISDOM the “WORD” (Bible).  For the “WORD” is an indispensable link to connect man (humans) to Himself, and “a way” for us to connect ourselves to Him.  This is an unfathomable concept for us to perceive unless our minds are lifted by the Lord to receive such understanding.  The WORD (Bible) is a tool by which the Lord in the Wisdom of His endless LOVE allows us to does so.

Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through him, and nothing was made without him. In him there was life, and that life was a light for the people of the world. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not defeated it”  (John 1:1-5 ERV)

So by using this reasoning that there is both a church on earth and a church in heaven, and accepting that the foundation of BOTH churches is the WORD. For us, it is called The Bible and the Holy Scriptures.  Everything in both these churches is ruled by the Lord Jesus

For God is one, and there is one Mediator of God and of men, the Man Christ Jesus,”  (1 Timothy 2:5)

This leaves the church on earth with one glaring problem. We who are in the church who exist temporarily on this planet exist in a natural realm.  The church that exists in heaven exists in a spiritual realm.

This means the WORD (Bible) is read, perceived and understood in two different circumstances.  The Lord Himself confirms this TRUTH here;

The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away”  (Matthew 24:35)

So we can see the WORD (Bible) cannot pass away simply because we ourselves pass from one realm (earth) and into another (heaven). It always has, and it always will continue to exist throughout eternity.

But when this corruptible shall put on incorruption, and when this mortal shall put on immortality, then will take place the word that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory”  (1 Corinthians 15:54)

So taking all these facts (truths) into account we can see that the Word (Bible) is found in both the church on earth and the church in heaven.  For God cannot be split apart.  For it is inconceivable that He could exist only on the earth and not in heaven.  And in the same token, it is inconceivable that He (God) could only exist in heaven and not on the earth!

So, humans whether they exist and live on the earth, or whether they exist and live in heaven, all exist within the creation of God Himself.  For we are told this in the Book of Hebrews;

For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also certain of your own poets have said, For we are also His offspring”  (Acts 17:28)

And we are also told this in the Psalms;

Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I go up into Heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the furthest parts of the sea; even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be light around me. Yea, the darkness does not hide from You; but the night shines as the day; as is the darkness, so is the light to You”  (Psalms 139:7-12)

Human being has been born with the capacity to see and comprehend the spiritual meaning of the Word (Bible) as it is read and understood in the heavens

Having established the fact that there is a WORD (Bible) found on the earth and having established the fact that there is a WORD (Bible) found in heaven, this still leaves the church on earth with one glaring problem.

There exists at this day within the church on earth and the church in heaven no substantial link or connection between each other, even though each part was created to be a part of the Lord’s kingdom

Why is this so important to the New Emerging church? These Words from Jesus may give us a clue;

And He called them and said to them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rises up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. No one can enter into a strong one’s house and plunder his goods, except he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house. Truly I say to you, All sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and blasphemies with which they shall blaspheme. But he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never shall have forgiveness, but is liable to eternal condemnation. Because they said, He has an unclean spirit”  (Mark 3:23-30)

Jesus taught this great TRUTH in a parable.  May I say He also taught it with a characteristically great deal of humility and gracious tender LOVE.  How can we neglect such a precious Savior?

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment. He who fears has not been perfected in love”  (1 John 4:18)

In this parable, which has been exposed to reveal what is called the only inexcusable sin of a human being or what is called the “Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit”

What is this sin in which Jesus is describing?  It is THE PRIDE OF MAN.  It is so sinister, so evil “it is liable to eternal condemnation“.  “Because they said, He (Godhas an unclean spirit“.

This means that a sinful human being takes what is an essential part of himself, an EVIL, SINFUL NATURE and projects it on the LOVE of God Himself and blames Him for all the EVIL contained within the universe.  This is what is called the “PRIDE OF MAN.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world”  (1 John 2:16)

Pride of Man

Song by Quicksilver Messenger Service

Lyrics

Turn around go back down
Back the way you came
Can’t you see that flash of fire
10 times brighter than the day
And behold a mighty city
Broken in the dust again

Oh God, pride of man
Broken in the dust again

Turn around go back down
Back the way you came
Babylon is laid to waste
Egypt’s buried in her shame
Their mighty men are all beaten down
Their kings are all fallin’ in the ways

Oh God, pride of man
Broken in the dust again

Turn around go back down
Back the way you came
Terror is on ever sign
Though our leaders are dismayed
All those who place their faith in fire
In fire their fate shall be repayed

Oh God, pride of man
Broken in the dust again

Turn around go back down
Back the way you came
And shout a warning to the nation
That the sword of God is raised
Yes, Babylon backed by it’s city
Rich in treasure wide in fame

Oh God, pride of man
Broken in the dust again

And it shall cause your tower to fall
Make of you a pyre of flame
Oh, you who dwell on many waters
Rich in treasure wide in fame
You bow unto your, your god of gold
Your pride of might shall be a shame
For only God can lead his people
Back unto the earth again

Oh God, pride of man
Broken in the dust again

The holy mountain be restored
Have mercy on the people
The people
Lord
