“And there appeared a great sign in the heavens, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head,” (Revelation 12:1)
Revelation Chapter 12 The Woman
“…there appeared a great sign in the heavens“. A “sign” seen in the heavens is a prediction and declaration of what is soon to be presented.
“Let them bring them out, and tell us what shall happen; let them reveal the former things, what they are, that we may look on them and know the final end of them; or declare to us things to come” (Isaiah 41:22).
And there appeared the unveiling of the woman in the heavens
“a woman clothed with the sun,” A “woman” here means the New Emerging church on earth. We are told by the Lord that the church on earth is also called the “bride“. So this “woman” has the same meaning as that which is called “the bride of Christ” in the Bible. (See also Ephesians 5:25-27).
“the sun” in Scripture symbolizes LOVE. In this verse that LOVE is expressed in Love to the Lord Jesus. For it says the “woman” (The New Emerging Church), “was clothed with the sun” which is a fierce love and devotion to Jesus.
LOVE comes from God and no other source
“We love Him because He first loved us. If anyone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar. For if he does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And we have this commandment from Him, that he who loves God should love his brother also” (1 John 4:19-21).
And we have this commandment from Him, that he who loves God should love his brother also
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him. Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, Lord, how is it that You will reveal Yourself to us and not to the world? Jesus answered and said to him, If a man loves Me, he will keep My Word. And My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My Words, and the Word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me” (John 14:21-24)
The New Emerging Church will walk in this fierce love and devotion to Jesus
This body of believers will be few in numbers in the beginning. But God always has a remnant of true believers on the earth. Whether it be Noah before the flood, or Abraham before the Hebrew nation began.
God also explained to Elijah that he was not alone;
“And it happened when Elijah heard, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out, and stood at the cave entrance. And behold, a voice came to him and said, What are you doing here, Elijah? And he said, I have been very zealous for Jehovah, the God of Hosts, because the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, have thrown down Your altars, and have slain Your prophets with the sword. And I, I alone, am left. And they seek to take my life away” (1 Kings 19:13-14).
God had remnant followers in strategic positions. It is not the people who are important in this story, but the plans and purposes of God. For the Lord told Elijah he was not alone.
“Yet I have left seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth which has not kissed him” (1 Kings 19:18).
The New Emerging Church has the “moon under her feet”
“And there appeared a great sign in the heavens, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head,” (Revelation 12:1)
“The moon” means a symbol of spiritual light and understanding of Scripture recorded in the Bible. For the “moon” is not the source of that light and illumination to us. The moon is a reflection of the light given off by the sun. The “sun” is the source of all our light. The light from the “sun” in the Bible is called TRUTH and WISDOM. JESUS said that He is the TRUTH,
The divine-human of Jesus Christ is the Lord, and He is that ONE God. Before HIM, the “I AM“, there is no other,
“Jesus said to him, I AM the Way, the TRUTH, and the LIFE; no one comes to the Father but by Me” (John 14:6)
Jesus is saying there is only ONE TRUTH (I AM). There is only ONE WAY (I AM). There is only ONE LIFE (I AM). No one comes to heaven but by ME (I AM). There are not three Gods. There is only ONE TRUTH, ONE WAY, and ONE ETERNAL LIFE and ONE GOD. And that is the DIVINE-HUMAN, JESUS the LORD.
This is the meaning of “the moon was under her feet“. This is the theology and church doctrine of the New Emerging Church that they will embrace! The divine-human of Jesus Christ is God.
The New Emerging Church has WISDOM in spiritual matters
“…and a crown of twelve stars on her head“. The New Emerging Church (“woman“) is shown in John’s vision wearing a “crown” “on her head“. The “crown” is composed of “twelve stars“.
This New Emerging Church has noted the commands of the Lord to His church found in the sacred Scriptures. More importantly, they consider it their highest honor and duty to follow those commands to the best of their ability. Unlike the modern Christian church, they do not consider themselves automatically clean as snow and washed of all sins.
“Behold, I come quickly. Hold fast to that which you have, so that no one may take your crown” (Revelation 3:11).
They are wise and prudent in carefully obeying the words of the Lord Jesus. As a result of this obedience, they become spiritually intelligent. They can discern and see what is the truth, and they can see lies. They are not foolish. This is why they are shown wearing a “crown of twelve stars“.
The New Emerging Church has WISDOM in spiritual matters
In Jesus Christ alone is found WISDOM, but a “crown” is bestowed to those Christians who strive to live up to these words,
“Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37)
By having this WISDOM, the New Emerging Church is capable of knowing church conduct and church doctrine. This is what is meant by the “crown” on the “woman” being decorated with “twelve stars“. They know the Lord’s voice and they follow HIM.
“We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross because he knew that later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God’s throne!” (Hebrews 12:2)
