“So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take the scroll and eat it. It will be sour in your stomach, but in your mouth it will be sweet like honey” (Revelation 10:9).
In the Book of Revelation, in this verse, the Apostle John is being told to “Take the scroll and eat it”. This is akin to us picking up a Bible and reading a portion of text. If you are like me, the Bible is the finest literature in the world because it is from Jesus, and it is Jesus.
“Taste and see that Jehovah is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him” (Psalms 34:8).
The Book of Revelation is also called “the Testimony of Jesus”
“who bore record of the Word of God and of the testimony of Jesus Christ and of all the things that he saw” (Revelation 1:2).
Part of this testimony of Jesus Christ is given to John to share unto the church on the earth. And this is to communicate Jesus’ future purpose and plans.
“For I know the purposes which I am purposing for you, says Jehovah; purposes of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope“. (Jeremiah 29:11)
The LOVE of God which passes all understanding is issuing a gentle warning to the Christian church on the earth
When John takes “the scroll” and eats it, it at first tastes “sweet like honey”. But when he swallows and begins to digest it, it becomes sour in his stomach. This is an illustration given by Jesus to show the church on the earth has adulterated the Word of God. Why? because LOVE was not put above all things.
It is spoken in both the Old Testament and in the New Testament to love thy Lord thy God is the greatest commandment
“Hear, O, Israel. Jehovah our God is one Jehovah. And you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart” (Deuteronomy 6:4-6)
“Master, which is the great commandment in the Law? Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment” (Matthew 22:36-38)
The Christian clergy and leaders have taken hold of the Word of God, and have held it captive
If you read and engage in the Revelation of Jesus, you can comprehend that the current Christian church has fallen into grave error in matters of doctrine derived from the WORD (Bible). The Lord Jesus Christ has been kicked aside as the rightful ruler of His church. And in the process, ordinary church members have been led astray into following faulty teachings.
What is the problem then?
The root of the problem in the church is that they have forgotten “the great commandment in the Law”. To LOVE the Lord thy God. To listen only to His voice, and none other.
“But you did not believe because you are not of My sheep. As I said to you, My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give to them eternal life, and they shall never ever perish, and not anyone shall pluck them out of My hand” (John 10:26-28).
When we rely only upon our feeble understanding and inertia, we distance ourselves from our Holy God, heaven and His TRUTH. We put ourselves in a precarious position. The weak and leaderless sheep can fall prey to the temptations of hell! We distance ourselves from the safety of heaven.
“Then I saw an arm reach out toward me. It was holding a scroll with words written on it. It rolled the scroll open in front of me. Words were on the front and on the back of the scroll. There were all kinds of sad songs, sad stories, and warnings” (Ezekiel 2:9-10).

The New Emerging church will realize this error and will turn around and head in a new direction
This will lead to a form of religious civil war.
“And the dragon was enraged over the woman, and went to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:17).
The New Emerging Church (“woman”) will meet stiff resistance from the old institutional church (“dragon”). The New Emerging Church will follow only “the great commandment in the Law”. The old institutional church will be stiff-necked and trust only in their own intelligence. Their pride will not allow them to admit their mistakes.
