A Jigsaw Puzzle of The Bible – 02.24.2011

The Word of God is a delightful, unending jigsaw puzzle

When you look at and read the Bible, either a chapter, a verse or just a single word, it opens up illumination to the mind. Some pieces are corners of truth.

You are able to look at other pieces of the Bible and how they just seem to fit what you just read!. As you examine the piece of the puzzle you have read, you notice it has a curve, a bow or a big nose.

Or perhaps the piece you need looks like it is missing a nose on a face, and it should insert there. So you search the puzzle pieces until you find the right match, and it inserts perfectly, just as it was made to! And on and on, until your puzzle is completed and the picture in its entirety is revealed.

Great men of faith have spent lifetimes breaking down and explaining the meaning of each book, chapter, and verse of the Bible. Perhaps you could say they are categorizing each piece of the puzzle to make assembling the puzzle easier.

Ah, but here is the kicker. the next time you open the puzzle box, the pieces all have a different appearance. The pieces seem to be cut about the same, but now the picture they make up is different!

The books, chapter, verse or even a single word in the Bible now present something different to the eyes. A new meaning, a new application for life, a new truth, and a new revelation

You have a good idea of how the Bible puzzle was assembled last time, but now it seems deeper and more beautiful! You are learning more delightful and delicious truths of the kingdom of God from the Lord! This time after you have put all the pieces of the puzzle together, the picture is not the same as before.

But wait, you realize you have just scratched the surface!

You can try and put God in a box that is easy to understand, but that is impossible. After you complete the 500 piece puzzle, you realize the next one is the 1000 piece set! The picture it presents could be a big as a galaxy, or small as a hair under a microscope. This is representative of the immensity and complexity of our God.

If we are truly to know the mind of God, we must study the Word in spirit and in truth

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit” (Romans 8:5).

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”  (John 6:63)

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart“. (Hebrews 4:12)
